The design process sometimes is not respectful of the originals composition and morphology, but might be the materialization of the collective will to preserve or enhance some values as living testimonials of its culture. The envelope is the starting point (signifier) not capable to express its role (signified) anymore. So it’s possible to operate through light interventions overlaying the existing one, suggesting new possibilities and potentials not foreseen before by the built envirnment. This approach opens the opportunity to face the chaos through new indepent entities capable to graft over the objective reality and to give back new usage and reading possibilities. Human-scale objects able to turn the meaning of a space or a place.
